You can filter by whatever you want (for instance Elo) For serious opening and play study, I would filter by high Elo OTB at 40/2 along with high Elo correspondence and high Elo SSDF games. Probably, you will want to filter by date > 1950 at least also. The other stuff is still lots of fun. Use queries to pull out the content you are after. You can export the filtered stuff and make a new base from it.
