Subject: Hiarcs 7/Dell Solution Found!

As an owner of one of the dreaded Dell computers that couldn't run HIARCS 7
with the "-x" option, I have been working with Mark Uniacke to help him come up
with a fix. Well, yesterday he emailed me a test version that so far runs just
fine with this Dell (big grin). There are some things he still needs to do to
make the program ready for general consumption but he asked me to post our
progress and let folks know that those having problems will have a fix available
to them very soon. He will follow up shortly with an official post.
On a scale from 1 - 10, my knowledge of computer hardware and operating
systems is somewhere between "e" and "pi". However, I get the impression from
Mark's comments that the problem HIARCS was having with Dell computers is that
Dell was loading software code into extended memory between 1Mb - 2Mb in safe
mode.
Anyway, the bottom line is that help is on the way very soon.
