Horizon effect? The undefended pawn is tempting bait to a materialistic evaluation. Maybe Junior's evaluation algorithm doesn't recognize that g6 immobilizes the bishop, so he has to search a few plies down and doesn't reject the move until he sees that the bishop can be captured? At your game's time control Junior picked this move, after 15 seconds, but if Junior has more time he won't stick with it.
