I don't think Fritz has a remove duplicates function. As to the Ultimate
collection, I recall the earlier editions to be absolute junk. Full of repeated
player names (such as 4-5 versions of Korchnoi), and thus repeated games, wrong
dates, wrong events, you name it. I honestly don't think there are 40%
duplicates, and agree it sounds like a gross exagerration, but nor is there
0.5%. I'd be surprised if the number wasn't above 10% though.

You might want to take a look at how much space these games take, because 2.8
million games in PGN format may easily take up to 1 GB of space. I honestly
don't know though, as none of my large bases are in PGN format.
