Desire is a too strong word I would say. My interest also diminished
to WB or UCI compatible programs only, thus I seldom buy CB only progs
anymore, yet I made an exception for Hiarcs 9 though.

I am still an active tournament player, but mainly for my chess club
nowadays, my last single competition was around 7 years ago.
OTH I am also running tournaments between programs, but I never had run
a program on a chess server, because I am not interested in this.
Instead I play fast chess for myself on servers.

Of course I did and yes I also had some wins in the past against various
programs. I noticed though that playing better vs. programs seems to hurt
my performance in Human tournaments.

No, I just owned a SuperConny and a box I believe was called Boris or similar.
IIRC the Boris was quite weak and at the time of the SuperConny the outcome
was about equal. I got much stronger later in the nineties, as I had started
quite late with club chess in the mid eighties.
