Do you have them on display? storage space is of course an important issue as you correctly point out i have two homes i store them in i do not display them however i make an effort to have the original box with that particular computer so it can accomodate the pieces, manual and of course the computer,so most but not all of them are in their original boxs i had book shelves built in for the smaller portable computers and for the larger units two rooms set aside in my basements(finished) i have them seperated into sections by manufacturer (Fidelity,Scisys,Mephisto, etc, etc) when i want to play a certain model i take the computer, set it up on a desk i have in the basement and play sometimes i am allowed to bring a computer to the surface(above the basement) but this is depending on my wifes current mood >It seems you might even make a real museum out of them to me. >If not that, then an online museum might also be nice. well i have been posting photos of many of my rarer models lately just skim down a bit(on these CCC pages) and you can see my photo album which is on the net of course the album has only a small fraction of my computers but i tried to show computers that cannot be easily seen elsewhere on the net(rare computers) > >The only dedicated chess computers I ever played against were the very first >models, and I am afraid that they were not very good at the time (late 1970's). > >I imagine that since that time, they improved a lot. well they did improve to the point of 2400 Elo(Tasc R40 which contained version 2.5 of Dekonings King program.. the Cmaster program as i am sure you know) this was in 1995 not much progress since then because of the switch in interest in terms of programming and dollar investment to pc programs > >I play against a computer so much now, that I greatly prefer the 2-D screen to a >real chess board. and i am excactly the opposite i cannot play on a 2d board need a real board and pieces at least we are consistent in our individual needs :)) Steve
