Hi, it is not that simple because of search instability. Many times you can get to the same situation by other moves or the same moves in different order. If you extend only pawn pushed to row 7 at frontier node, it will happen (and quite often) that you get exactly the same situation with the pawn pushed to row 7 at pre-pre frontier node (or even before). Then you´ll have the same situation but different extensions and thus added search instability (that typically leads to more nodes). A pawn on row 7 is a threat that could take some time to be really visible. Maybe it´s good to extend only if the distance to frontier does not exceed a certain lmit? Maybe there are better criteria to decide when to extend like dont extend it the pawn is blocked. For example I do not extend if the pawn on row 7 has a negative SEE value (can be captured by winning material). Conclusion: test what will be best for you! Greetings Volker
