Somebody may have tuned their engine to play in this manner.  With enough
screwing around, it can be done.  In fact, I would not be surprised if a
computer played opening garbage vs a GM and still won. "absolute genius who
plays like God" would then be an impression, not a fact. On the other hand,
Fischer may have played those games.

btw, how is the chess programming going?
