Well I hate that Fritz, Junior, Shredder, Hiarcs, and Chess Tiger don't work under Winboard. Sooner or later these engines will _have_ to support more protocals. The market will demand it. It is so easy to add protocals like Winboard I/II, UCI that there is almost no reason not to add them. If they don't... everyone will soon just use the available engines that do work. Shredder uses UCI, but will not use Sandro's book outside the interface. That is itself is a killing point for me and probably many others. I will more than likely purchase Shredder 9 from Chessbase only for the fact it will have a book that I can use. Shredder can be used in other interfaces like Arena, Chesspartner, and Jose, but without a decent book. What is the point of doing that? Peter
