You don't need a compiler. > I currenctly have winboard, will polyglot run under winboard? It runs perfectly, you only have to configure it correctly. I assume you want to use a book therefore I suggest to use it with bookthinker to. Here we go: 1. Put Shredder, Bookthinker, Thinker.dat, Polyglot and Polyglot.ini into the same directory. 2. Rename Bookthinker to BT+Shredder8.exe 3. Edit your winboard.ini. Here is mine (adjust the path): ... "BT+Shredder8 polyglot" /fd="f:\schach\chessbase\engines\uci\shredder8" /firstProtocolVersion=1 ... Do that correctly for sd too. 4. Make a correct polyglot.ini. Here is mine (adjust the paths and hash sizes): [PolyGlot] EngineName = Shredder8 EngineDir = F:\schach\ChessBase\Engines\UCI\Shredder8 EngineCommand = Shredder8 Log = true LogFile = shredder8.log Resign = true ResignScore 1200 [Engine] Hash = 128 NalimovPath = g:\tb NalimovCache = 16 OwnBook = false That's it. vp
