I don't think this evaluation is to the point. Your Nh7 is a clear improvement
over the game, but it also means that white will have two strong pawns for the
piece and still has some major problems to solve.
I let Junior play two more games, the first game starting from Nh7 against its
initial opponent Yace that it won easily, and another one against Shredder from
the base position - it transferred to a double rook endgame with Junior being a
pawn up, that Shredder somehow managed to hold in its usual Houdini way.
Given that Nh2 and g4 both led two losses in other testgames posted in this
thread, and that quiet moves will lose the game as black is a pawn up, this is
at least some evidence that Bxh6 is a strong and recommendable move.
As this is a positional sac I don't think it will be possible to reach a
definite conclusion, and these tests do take some time.
Two unrelated observations about Junior: Junior 9 will play the first move in a
position or out of book much too quickly, contrary to other programs that
reserve more time for the first moves. As Junior 8 didn't behave like that, this
might be a bug.
In the final position of the Shredder game Junior froze ( the GUI? the engine?
who knows). Though irrelevant for the experiment it would be nice if Junior were
more stable.
