I for one am very interested in seeing its rating compared against the newer
engines. How else can we know how much they have inmproved or not?

It's hard to understand what you're point is. The SSDF games are played against
a wide variety of opponents so that the results are meaningful. It also helps to
see if the new versions really are significantly better than the older versions.
This cannot be done if they only play against opponents within 20 or 30 points!
