After 17.g6..Nf4! and Black appears ok.

I'm interested in what your engines have to say.

CM10 likes 17. Qe4?!..but I can't check my ChessBase programs until I re-install
them.

Maybe Junior might play 17. Bxh7!, or Rebel...I don't know.

Maybe one of your programs will find the thematic move? Being a tactical player,
Bxh7 seems pretty natural to me.
