I tried setting up Pro Deo to run under winboard. To keep it simple, I put a
copy of winboad.exe in the pro deo main directory and then added the following
lines to winboard.ini:
/firstChessProgramNames={ProDeo
"prodeo.exe w7 rebel.eng"
This seemed to work fine until I went to analyze a test position from CCC. I
pasted the position into winboard from the clipboard and then tried analysis
mode. The winboard analysis window popped up and clearly Pro Deo was analyzing,
but it was analyzing the starting position, not the position shown on the board.
Has anyone experienced this before? Is there a way to get this working properly?
Would it be better to try using rebeluci.exe and polyglot?
P.S. Before anyone suggests arena instead of winboard, I use arena and like it a
lot. In this case, however, I'm trying to get Pro Deo working from a memory
stick with no installation required and no registry entries. I didn't think
arena would do this, but winboard does.
