Subject: CCT7 Update 02.05.05 - Some unfortunate news... :(

Hello everyone,

The last few days I have written emails to a few program authors in an attempt
to have them to enter CCT7. This consisted of both commercial and amateur
programs.

This evening (2am local time so I guess morning) I received an email back from
one author who said he would not be entering and that "he would not be surprised
if none of the commercial programs entered" because _I_ am the TD. Also he
thinks that the reason registration has been slow is that "no one" believes that
I have a biased opinion regarding the participants. It has been eluded to that
since I run a "Crafty" website, I will ensure it is automatically seeded #1, and
possibly get special treatment in the event something happens to one of it's
opponents.

When I read the email I was quite upset by it as I have put a lot of time into
this, and I _volunteered_ for it. No one asked me to do it. Just as no one asked
me to do a "Crafty" website. I just did it. While Crafty is one of my favorite
programs, so is Gandalf, Chess Tiger, and Hiarcs. Those are commercial programs
with their own advertising and support systems. I just added one to the Crafty
list. If it is needed to show that I am not biased, I will throw up some support
pages for those programs as well.

I am honestly very disheartened by the reply, and extremely upset at that
particular author. I have done nothing but support him and his program at all
costs.

If such is the case, then I offer that someone else take over the reigns to the
event in hopes that they do join. I think it is an important event, and needs
the best programs to play.

I really don't know what more to say.

Peter
