Here's how I set up Prodeo to play under winboard. First install Prodeo by
unzipping the file. Then you can run Prodeo under winboard either using a
shortcut with a target like:

C:\shach\winboard\winboard.exe -cp -fd c:\shach\prodeo -fcp "prodeo.exe w7
rebel.eng" -sd c:\shach\prodeo -scp "prodeo.exe w7 rebel.eng"

Or you can add the following lines to winboard.ini:

/firstChessProgramNames={
"prodeo.exe w7 rebel.eng" /fd="C:\shach\prodeo"
}
/secondChessProgramNames={
"prodeo.exe w7 rebel.eng" /sd="C:\shach\prodeo"
}

In both cases, I can play a game and Pro Deo seems to use its opening book. With
the w7 option, Pro Deo uses 100 MB hash size. You can use other w# parameters to
get different size of hash tables.

I thought everything was fine until I tried to analyze a test position from CCC.
I pasted the position into winboard from the clipboard and then tried analysis
mode. The winboard analysis window popped up and clearly Pro Deo was analyzing
something. But when I looked closely at the analysis, it turned out that it was
analyzing the starting position, not the position shown on the board! If I play
a game through from the beginning and then try analysis mode, however, it works
fine.

This seems to be a bug in Pro Deo. I tried the same thing using crafty and it
always works fine.

Good luck!
