As owner of a dual opteron rig: they rock.  I only have 1.8G processors (by
subtraction, that makes them 244s I guess?)   A quick look at newegg reveals a
Tyan Tiger motherboard for 250$, plus 2 CPUS for 300$ each (mine cost 440 a year
ago if I remember correctly).  I would guess you would come out slightly better
in terms of Crafty speed on 32-bits, and Windows XP for 64-bits is due out
pretty soon I think.  Of course, there is also something to be said for the
comfort of knowing Dell is there for you.
