Subject: Sensory Board Problems

I have a Mephisto Academy & Kasparov Corona, both about 10 years old, with
similar problems.
A couple of squares on both machines do not respond to piece movement, and I
believe that it was after I left both machines stored for a few months with the
pieces on the board.
Am I correct in assuming that the reed switches beneath each square have become
excessively magnetised, and would this mean that these switches need replacing,
or should I purchase one of those cassette-head demagnetising guns and try
'de-gausing' them?

Thanks

Trefor.
