Thank you for this tip! I tried with an increment, and Shredder 9 UCI no longer loses on time, although I still think it takes a good amount of time relative to other engines. But it does play very effectively in the endgame with very little time left compared to other engines. S9 can draw many unfavorable positions by holding out until the other engines are short on time. Then ineffective moves are made .... and so on. Don't get the idea that I think S9 arrives at inferior positions all the time, but when it does, it also has a remarkable ability to hold on.
