There seems to be some confusion over the final registration date as pointed out by another hopeful. In the rules it is stated: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. No entries will be accepted 2 days prior to the start date of the tournament. This is to ensure that advertising, websites, and any promotional tools are accurate at start time. This is also to ensure participants have enough time to test their program on the ICC servers to ensure it is able to play. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When I originally wrote this rule, I automatically assumed people would read it like I wrote it. That two days before the event would be February 10. I did not implicitly state _when_ during that day registration would end. It seems this is where the confusion lies. I have posted here several times stating that there would be no entries allowed after February 9, 11:59pm EST. Apparently some either failed to read the updates I have been posting, or just assumed the end of registration would be at the end of the day on February 10. I am unsure what to do as I would like everyone to participate that would like to, but I already cancelled a person to operate GNUChess due to an uneven number of participants. Someone entered and withdrew within about an hour time frame due to a family emergency. If I allow more to enter, there is the possibility that I could wind up with an uneven number again and no one to operate GNUChess. This would create a bye round for some, and this was highly expressed as something that would not be wanted. So... Peter
