Go up one level in this thread

how would that affect the value of a unit? I'm also thinking about
>historical value. Do the standards used in other areas, say, art, apply here?
>Just curious as to whether there is a standard here.

in this particular case it has no effect on value
the Program module for the Mephisto Risc II-1mb was not touched in any way
this was simply a modification to the 16/32 bit display module
i can use this module with many of my Mephisto modules
the display module is seperate and apart from the program module
i have several display modules so i had one modified

in general however modifications reduce the value of a computer to a collector
that is interested in originally released computers ,which i think most
collectors are
of course if a particular collector does not care about original items it might
even increase the value based upon the type of modification

Best
Steve
