I’ve read carefully the Ed Schroder’s Computer Chess page and, until now, I don’t realize that he describes a SEE technique. For me it looks like a more elaborated MVV/LVA approach. I have read too many papers describing SEE or MVV/LVA and some authors refer aspects related to exchange selection that are shared for both techniques. Based on Ed Schroder paper I have build attack tables and I’m worry about what you may call X-ray attacks. Did you mean, for instance, a double rook attack or a queen attack in same diagonal, behind a bishop? I’ve missed that… Comparing the Fruit or Crafty code needed to implement SEE with Ed Schroder algorithm, it’s difficult to imagine that the firsts could be so efficients in doing the same job. Thanks for your advices. Regards, Carlos Magno
