I can't answer your question but it doesn't seems unfair if some of these
engines (Shredder, Gandalf etc.) had a package that could be sold as an addon to
Chess Assistant and/or Chess Academy etc. They work very well as analysis engine
in such programs. My guess is that it would extend their sales since it is
different people that surfe those sites.

With this said, Lokasoft do sell new products that use the same gui to the price
of an engine if you first have bought the gui (with or without an engine
package). I bought the standalone gui ages ago (*) and can still add engines
(upgrade) to it.

Maybe Shredder Classic (**) will extend the same way as ChessPartner, you
allready have one addon (S9) to the classic engine.
