Someone ask why I was not on much. A few weeks back, Mike Byrne had mentioned
entering Crafty Classic (his version) which I thought was an OK idea. I didn't
think two crafty versions should be allowed, so I suggested that Mike be the
"official crafty" entry and he agreed.

I then was asked to do a unix sysadmin training course all day today and since
Mike was going to operate Crafty, I agreed. Then mike ran into the modem driver
problem, overnight and as I was leaving home this morning for the unix training
course I was teaching, I got a phone call saying "no crafty." I quickly logged
on my normal crafty, no unusual opening book, no preparation, no nothing.
Crafty was on and ready to go for the first round and someone there volunteered
to remote operate it so that it could play.

I checked in from time to time when I could take time out for a few minutes,
while people in the class were eating lunch, or working on a short assignment or
whatever. Was the best I could do given the circumstances.

The draw problem was unfortunate. Had I been the TD I would have ruled
_exactly_ the same as Peter, because our rules (for this and that previous CCT)
specifically mandated an automatic interface with _zero_ human intervention
allowed. My opponent could not correctly accept a draw, hung, and lost on time.
End of story. I've lost more than my fair share of games due to such bugs, and
I simply fixed them and went on. Vincent's ramblings and rantings are way off
base, as they always are. Anyone that listens to him needs psychiatric care.

Of course he would say anything possible negative about Peter. Was there any
doubt. He also claimed that Crafty somehow "misbehaved" or was "unsportsmanlike
in the way it offered a draw." I'll be happy to have GM players (not just one,
but more than one) stand up and point out that the way crafty currently offers
and accepts draws automatically is totally acceptable and is what they asked me
to implement.

It's a crock by a crackpot.
