I agree this was unfortunate. In my mind there was no question to the ruling
made, and that is why I stuck to it.

My job as the TD as I see it are:

1. Record the results accurately and issue the pairings.
2. Update all coverage options in a timely manner.
3. Help participants when they need it, and answer questions from spectators.
4. In the event a decision is required, I see it as mine and mine alone. I took
on the responsibility as the TD. I will take responsibility for any decision I
make.

In reality I am the person in the background making sure everything runs
smoothly while the participants take center stage. Isn't that the way it is
supposed to be?

I have tried so hard to make sure the pairings and results were out in time for
the next round. I didn't want people waiting around getting angry with delays. I
practiced the procedure that I am using probably 50 times before hand, and it
seems to be working well. There was only one round that was slightly delayed,
but that was due to a long game.

Before each new round all the games are saved to the CCT7 library on ICC. All
games are also saved in pgn format for the website. All results are obtained,
verified, and new pairings are posted. This does not include all the incremental
updates I do here on the CCC, and on the website.

I also got over 300 emails today from people looking for information, wanting to
register (yes believe it), or wanting to know where to get a certain program if
it was freely available. That is not easy to do while handling the event.

All in all I hope that at the end of the event everyone can say they had a good
time, everything ran as it should, and congratulate the winner(s).

Peter
