Subject: Dedicated chess - Mephisto Mondial XL

 The XL (See computer chess reports 1987-88 page 29)is the Dallas program with
 20% speed -up and improvements.The 68000 processor @ 12Mhz was put into a
 plastic housing and sold to the North American market.

 I purchased the XL in July 1988 and it has been with me since then.
 I also purchased a Fidelity Mach 111 and had to exchange it twice before
 I got one that worked as it should!The German machines were much more
 reliable it seemed.

 In my opinion the XL has the best sensory touch board.And at 60 min's game
 it is equal to the Mach 111 which has hash tables.The XL does not.

 I think the XL is rated around 1950 elo.It's game can be a little passive
 at times but it is very hard to beat.
 For the time the XL had many features.
