Hello >In the opening book you have the “prob” which sets every move to 0% except e4 , >therefore when s9 has white its will always chose e4. When I put a post up >before you guys got prob mixed up with % however the prob % always overrides >the %. There for moves like g4 , c4 , d4 will never be chose unless manually >done. This is horrible for someone in training. If you have this 0% value something is wrong. Try CTRL-O und clear the "book learning" and the "result learning". If this is not changing a thing you may have to reinstall. If you have repaired that set the book to wide and hit "CTRL-C" and S9 is doing a book move, hit "new game" and "CTRL-C" again ... You will see Shredder is playing different moves. If you open the book option (CTRL-O) and you uncheck "use statistics" the opening moves will be random. The available help will give you some more advices if needed. >Second , the online TB base shows the right moves to mate or draw however these >moves do not influence the engine that is thinking so what good is it. You can not expect an engine to do a search via an internet connection. This would be much too slow! This feature is just for analysing a given position. Bye Ingo
