Subject: CCT 7 - my thoughts ...

For starters - a big congratulation to Anthong and his program Zappa. On the
seeding committee, there was at least two of us that had Zappa as the top seed
and based on its play, it was a well deserved seeding.

To Peter Skinner - you did a great job, if not the best job ever by a tournament
director of an event this noteworthy. I hope you get to run many more events.

To all CCT 7 particpants and fans and especially to Bob Hyatt. I am truly sorry
that I was unable to get my new box, a dual opteron 244 setup in time for this
great event. For all those that pitched in ito get a "second" crafty running on
late notice - large "kudos" top all of you. Lesson learned for me - do wait
until the last week to get the damn box!. But is there is a sliver lining here
in that many of you suggested the dual opteron over teh dual xeon and in
particular , the cost effectiveness of the Opteron 244s. It is amazing to me
that a box for that runs about $1500 can do 4M nps using Crafty 64 bit.

To Bryan Hoffman and Eugene Namilov - thanks for both of your great efforts to
get me 64 bit Craftys. Eugene, your version, compiled with latest (and
unreleased) MS tools, is especially fast. Bryan, you sent me multiple versions
that also perform quite well.

Finally, I would be interested in replaying all of Crafty CCT 7 opponents in a
"could of have been" , just for fun, scenario with the exact same time controls
and conditions. If interested, please email me.

Best regards,

Michael Byrne
