Fritz is written in x86 asssembler i.e. it can only work on PCs. Shredder is written in ANSI C and can as a result be easily converted for other platforms. I guess Chessbase knew they would never bring out a genuine Pocket Fritz but probably considered that the 'Fritz' name would sell better than a Pocket Shredder. Now that SMK has started to sell Shredder directly over the Internet I think we may see a Pocket Shredder soon! Steve
