However, I have been asking many questions and reading SC web site help and the FAQ. Some questions were answered clearly by Ingo about the whole situation of GUIs, UCIs, etc., and usage. This area is confusing to me and not one of my strong points of understanding. Since I prefer to make, work on, and edit my own OBs, the conclusion I have come to is the S9 UCI would suit me just fine. I don't need the .bkt format. This certainly does not imply there is anything wrong with Sandro Necchi's work and opening books at all, it's just my decision for my own enjoyment. This gives me the best of both worlds: Playchess, ICC, and a UCI. Personally, I find the constant CB/Playchess GUI upgrades frightening. You never know what you will get or what they are intended to fix. This opening book method may not be for everyone, but when the smoke has cleared, the S9 UCI will be my decision to purchase. DHM
