If it's not too much trouble, I'd appreciate knowing how you turned off DEP.
That doesn't seem to be a user option on my Windows XP Home (SP2). There's only
the option to switch between using DEP for "essential windows programs and
services", or "all programs and services". So a registry tweak is presumably
needed (?)...
