Hi Kurt. I always follow your matches with a lot of interest, but i don't
understand why you are running this tests, especially the ones you took on
junior 9, at such fast time control. I mean, we want the programs we are testing
to be able to their unleash full strengh, right?
I once heard from Amir Ban saying that it seems that one chess program seems to
perform best at the range where the programmer runs tests and makes decisions
about his program. He said he always tested his program at classical time
control (2h/40 + 1h/20 + 30').
From my point of view, and i agree with you completly in this matter, it makes
no sense testing x program vs and older version of the program. I find much more
interesting to run a match between program x and program y (with a different
aproach from his programmer). That's why i think a match between Junior 9 and
Shredder 9 at classical time controls would be phenomenal. When you make a
fight, you want two contenders, the two of them very alike to each other, but
you want them evenly matched. Wouldn't it be great running a match on such
conditions? Somebody do something! Best regards
Pablo
