Subject: CCO F-12 Advanced Chess Tournament

Author: S. Milosevic

Date: 18:16:34 02/19/05

The CCO F-12 Advanced Chess Tournament will take place on the Free Internet
Chess Server (FICS) on Wednesday, February 23, 2004, 17:00h GMT. Everyone is
eligible and invited to join. One need not be a CCO member to join the
tournament, although membership is highly desirable. The tournament will be
directed by a CCO staff member, and the players will be paired according to the
Swiss pairing system. The number of rounds will be determined according to the
number of participants. The time control will be 60 minutes for each side,
without increment, for all games. The players will be allowed to switch their
chess engines during matches, though a player will be required to state in
advance which chess engine(s) he/she will use. The games will be unrated in
order to not violate the FICS rules which prohibit using computer assistance in
rated games, though CCO may calculate your Advanced Chess rating and publish it
on its website if you play enough of our Advanced Chess tournaments, and if you
apply for our membership. CCO members that perform well in our tournaments will
be eligible for the CCO annual award "Viswanathan Anand" for outstanding
contributions to Advanced Chess.
