I am not so sure about the law of diminishing returns applied to chess programs.
Another way to check this out would be to play blitz instead of slow games. At
game/5 Hiarcs 7 defeated Junior 5 25-9 and Fritz 5 14-9, so your theory doesn’t
seem to work. Given the delay introduced by auto232, the time control used would
be more like 5 2.
