Subject: Fritz 5 and ratings (updated)

Earlier I reported that Fritz 5 seemed to play much stronger
than its rating when playing game/60. Even at speed chess, the
program had assigned me a C rating even though I am a strong A
player. (Heading toward Expert I like to think.)

But I have gotten mixed results recently when setting the program
to game/60. Earlier it seems to play >2000 even when set to the
low rating. I could tell this because it was taking 2 to 3 seconds
per move, which is really quite strong on Fritz. But today it seemed
to play instantly on this seting and it played no better than it does
at speed chess at a low setting.

I get the impression that the rating feature on Fritz not only cuts
the time spent, but also occasionally makes the program play a random
move. (I base this on some of the completely non-sensical moves that
it will make. Most of the time it makes really good moves, but occasionally
it makes a very weird looking move.)
