hi peter, thanks for the reams of info. not quite sure what it means. i think i have a timing issue. using cable moden,i mean world class cable modem. i have'nt really checked but i'll bet in the top 5% in the world. i think the return commands from ics via winboard are so quick crafty is'nt ready. does this make sense? never have this problem with ruffian or pro deo. infreaquently with other programs. its not specific with anyones particular compile either. it just nags at me. thanks anyway pete. regards mike
