This is with the Classic 1.2 GUI and Shredder 9 UCI engine... In some cases it remembers very well. For example if I am analyzing in infinite analysis mode, analyzing 3 lines of play, then reduce the analysis to 1 line, it remembers almost immediately. So if it had achieved 25 ply depth while analyzing the 3 lines, it starts almost immediately (sometimes a few seconds delay, or a minute or so) with 25 ply when analyzing 1 line. It also remembers very well in some cases when stepping forwards/backwards through a game score while doing infinite analysis. I would have to do specific testing to confirm exactly what works, and what doesn't in that regard. In other cases, it doesn't seem to remember. For example if I am analyzing a move in infinite analysis mode, press "insert" to insert the best move, replace it on disk with ctrl-R, then click in the game score to restart infinite analysis of the position before the best move was inserted, it apparently does not remember the prior analysis. Perhaps this is because another operation intervened (the insert and replace operations), I am not really clear whether it remembers prior analysis from one session to another. For example if I analyze a position in infinite analysis mode, insert the best move, replace it on disk with ctrl-R, then exit the game entirely to return later (maybe several days later), I'm not sure what it remembers. I'd need to test it. Offhand I don't believe it remembers, but I'm not sure. Sorry about the vaguenesses. I've adopted the attitude that I'm happy when it remembers, but don't worry very much if it forgets... :) WP
