I just this weekend purchased a Fidelity Excellence on eBay for $5.50. It has a
lot of wear and dirt on the squares, but is in working order.

Not really an indication of how expensive everything is there, though. I have
heard of some people actually spending more than $1,000 on a Fidelity on eBay!
Not mentioning any names, but one of them lives in my house. :-)

The Excalibur Grandmaster, as Steve mentions, is a reasonably priced new unit
that can be found in lots of places. They show up on eBay every day, and the
price is generally in the $125 to $140 range, at the Buy It Now price. Some go
for less in the actual auctions. They also can be purchased for a bit more at
several of the Internet chess supply houses. It certainly is a decent looking
and playing computer, for the money.
