In my opinion, the chess software market ( or any other similar example), has created in its customers and enthusiasts a sort of Kleptomanism in such a level wherein some are anxious, agitated and restless, and will continue to be so, unless he has the "Strongest" or even just the latest version of his favorite program installed securely in his pc. I don't think in itself it is bad (unless one eventually begins to neglect his health), but I believe such a phenomenon exists. What do you think, fellow enthusiasts? BTW my favorite program is Chess Tiger 14 and Junior 7. I seem to have been cured, as I view Tiger 14 (I was immensely impressed by its style of accumulating small advantages ruthlessly and efficiently), and Junior 7 (Its wild style is phenomenal. Junior 7 for me is a distinct animal.) the only programs I will ever need (I haven't bought the higher versions these since then) On February 21, 2005 at 19:40:04, Alan Grotier wrote: > > It almost seems insane to be in the race to acquire the most strongest > chess machine/software available. > Even to the extent that one or two points seem to matter. > > My experience is most players don't play against their machines. > So why have the very strongest. > > My dedicated machines are laid out on a table and are made to perform > regularly. > I am at best 1700 player. So a 2000 machine is good for me.Why have > stronger?
