I see these as having two distinct roles to play. Whilst the dedicated chess
machine (DCM)is a pleasure to have and to play the PC is simply a tool. When I
first bought HIARCS 7.32 I used it to analyse games played at Margate Chess Club
and printed them with extensive notes in the "Margate Chess" magazine. I would
enter the games, go to bed and print out the results of my "hard work" some days
later. Everyone was well impressed I can tell you. I would not want to be
without HIARCS. It must be a bit like having a pick-up truck and the coupe. I
wouldn't like to have to choose between them and of course, I don't. I still use
HIARCS 7.32 and will for some time to come I'm sure. The latest PC update holds
little interest but a new DCM is something else. My R30 and Mephist Academy
still give me a hard time and great pleasure. I won't be selling either.
Dedicated regards.
Ray.
