The truth is that the world is very dynamic and reasons for why is not doing something tomorrow, i.e., I will be doing something different tomorrow, change. They choose not to enter for whatever reason and we simply moved. Also, it is true for some people that are non-confrontational in nature would make up a reason why they are no doing something. It has noting to do with you - that is a quirk in their personality , not yours. Treat this as non-event. You will live longer. Now for my own request - let's have another tournament. This would be for authors and non-authors, all programs are allowed. Any author could enter and would get first priority, but if they choose not to enter, we will get a volunteer to run their program anyway. We simply need volunteers and i think it would be a lot of fun. Call it "VOCCT 1" Open to Users Volunteer Operated Computer Chess Tounament. The only requirement is that ONLY one version of program may be entered. Volunteers would submit ther hardware and five programs they would like to run (they will only be selected to run one). The opeatror selection willbe based on who ever selected the fastest hardware for that program ( we may need an "operator selection" committee). An author willhave first right of refual to run or not to run their program orthey may specifically designate someone to run thier program. But if they choose not to run, we will run tehir runprogram for them. (There is no law against that for personal ejoyment ofthe program. It would be very interesting - maybe the top 10/15 commercial program and the top 35-50 amatuer programs. I know there would be alot of volunteers that would love to run their favorite chess program in a tournament like this. I would also allow GM/IM (let's get some humans!)to particpate as well as advanced chess (human/program). Eduard would also be allowed to show his skills in a real tournament setting (why not?) This would be a just for fun tournament with the prize being bragging rights for the winner. Is there interest? I will sign up. Let's pick a weekend in MArch and let's do it!
