Hi Clice
i have explained this many times before here

people collect many things as a hobby
books(i also collect chess books)stamps coins cars the ..list would be endless

the ability to be able to play virutally any chess computer i want at any time
is a great pleasure for me

but this is because i like to PLAY chess myself
i used to play in rated tournaments years ago and also correspondence chess

now my only real choice is the internet and the cheating makes playing for a
rating rediculous

i still do not see why there is a sense of pride being an operator in a
tournament(i did not ask about home made matches)

if you are rooting for a particular program because it is your favorite(which i
can understand perfectly)then why is operating the program make it more so?

no one seems to answer this

perhaps i dont understand the operator's level of involvement?

to my understanding a good operator is one that basically does nothing to
interfere with the program
another poster even said that the tournament was mainly run at night and his
time invested was deminimus
so here we have someone who was basically asleep when the tournament was running

i am sorry but i just dont get it

Perplexed Regards
Steve
