>isn't it a bit like Kaufbeuren ? hi Alain attending a live computer VS computer tournament is a bit different then operating a program at home in a match many attend for the freindships, they go to dinner ,see each other and share some time together.they have an opportunity to see and play machines they do not own themselves but it is true that many get very involved in the games themselves and somehow take pride if their dedicated computer wins and i think here it is the same thing and i do not understand this either i have even heard of firece debates and fighting during the games :)) somehow they themselves feel that they are playing at the level of the computer and i also do not understand this either i have even asked this question on Kurt's site before but i guess its hard to get answer to this question as it is here but i suspect this is the answer for operating a computer in a match perhaps somehow the operator feels(without realizing it)that they themselves are playing fantasy level 2800 chess if only for a brief moment i can see for example Rudd Martin having a sense of pride because he attended the last tournament with his Resurrection and it swept away the competiton but here we have somoeone who has made something himself but to go with a Tasc R30 and sit there and beat a Sphinx Dominator and then feel proud?? it is fun to play ,interesting to see the games but a feeling of pride for winning ?? Best Steve
