Subject: help me shopping in L.A. (compusa, bestbuy or ....??)

I need to buy (new)
a) a novag or saitek or whatever to play good chess, with batteries and
automatic turn off and saving after a preset time.
b) I need to buy a small (in size i mean) notebook, but powerful: at least a
pentium 4, 3Ghz HT, or any other processor with similar features; windows xp
pro; all wireless capabilities; many usb ports; 1giga ram; 80 giga HD.

Suggestions welcome!!
