And you couldn't make a definitive statement without a statistically significant difference. Yet, as far as I know, neither Kasparov or Anand has played Hydra. The author is probably basing his statement on the fact that Kasparov and Kramnik both drew Fritz, Shredder is generally accepted as being stronger than Fritz, and Hydra is stronger than Shredder. Therefore, Hydra must be stronger than Kasparov. Well, maybe and maybe not. Roger
