Don't spend too much time with the opening. To learn about tactic, solve as many (over the board) problems as you can. As far as strategy is concern, learn how to transform an avanatage into a win. For instance, learn how to exploit a pawm majority; how to use the minority attack; how to use the space and position your pieces...There some good books out there that can help you. You can use a chess program to experiment but I don't recommend it for analysis. Correspondance chess is a good way to improve if you like in depth analysis. best Regards, Normand Blais
