We're talking about different things. Remi Coulomb's program has nothing
to do with chessbase. It is simply a tool that lets a winboard program
interface to auto232. That's all.

Chessbase's wbengine program is a different program that could be used to
do the same thing (talk to auto232). It is probably not as good a choice
(for talking to auto232) for winboard engines; however, because of how it
communicates with them. The effects of sending "new" before every move is
unpredictable from program to program.

On your trouble with getting wbengine to work so you can play/analyze using
winboard engines in the Chessbase GUI.... I wish I could help, but I haven't
tried it. A few engines (like mine, EXchess) are available for free directly
as chessbase engines. Just download them and drop them into your engines
folder.

P.S. If you do use EXchess, be sure you do not have v2.45. That version
was unfortunately distributed with the Junior 5.0 CD and had a (rather
humorous, but large) bug that was introduced in its conversion to a
chessbase engine. v2.51 works quite well and can be downloaded from
the chessbase website.

P.P.S Crafty is also available directly as a chessbase engine, but you will
not be able to use its own opening book or tablebases, so this may not
be any help to you.
