I was fascinated no end (from around 1990). I used to day dream aboutit non-stop! Sounds funny to most "normal" people, perhaps. I felt it was like a human being, and when I got into a good argument with it, and it understood what I was trying to do, and reacted accordingly, I got the greatest pleasure. But often it was just that I made mistakes, or that the computer couldn't even care responding to my ideas. But when it did, that gave me a very good feeling. But I was longing for it to "understand" better, and not just to pick out my mistakes. I used to keep a dedicated computer for over 2 weeks at a time, just analysing one position and waiting for it to see the right move. This was often stopped only when there was a power black out for a second or more, then the computer had no recollection of its 2-week long analysis. S.Taylor
