Subject: Nimzo - CHE programming language

Hello,

Last night, i re-read an article in ICCA journal dec 96 by C. Donninger about
the CHE programming Language implememented in Nimzo : the topic seemed rather
promising (ie implementing chess knowledge via graphical interface, position
pattern, rules and advices, taking into account by the chess engine almost "on
the fly") but little have been done so far on this (to my knowledge).

Does anyone have clues/thoughts on :
   - the relevance of this approach : (adding much chess knowledge doesn't mean
necessarily increasing engine's strenght and in fact i could generate some bad
side effects/collision if the knowledge is entered without "much" thinking)

   - the existence of others (open source ?) projects of this kind (nonetheless,
the idea of "tweaking/toying" the internals of the evaluation fonction of an
engine without investing too much on programming is exciting ! : see what an
extremly narrow opening + extensive chess knowledge on the opening could
produce)

Marc
