After a moment or two of this seeming electronic >consternation, the computer would flash its admission of defeat. > >It was a cute illusion but I still wonder if the illusion was intentional. a nice memory the idea of the computer displaying some feeling or emotion is one that has long held some fascination for me personally and for manufacturers in general the Novag Robot released in 1982 and the only chess computer ever released to utilize a Robotic Arm, actually had an "emotions" feature when activated the machine would try to distract the player while he was on the move suddenly and without warning lights would flash,beeps would sound and the Robotic arm would make random unexpected movements,sometimes hovering over the opponents piece as if ready to touch it if the Robot won ,it/he would beep gleefully and raise its arm in glorious triumph when in a losing position ,the arm would crawl across across the board and low sad pitiful tones could be heard and when finally faced with checkmate the robot has been known to take a dangerously close swipe at the opponent Emotional Regards Steve
